Ingredients

  • 60ml London dry gin, or Plymouth gin (2 oz)
  • 22ml freshly squeezed lime juice (3/4 oz)
  • 15ml simple syrup (1/2 oz)
  • Ice, for shaking
  • Garnish: lime wheel

Instructions

  1. Combine gin, lime juice, and simple syrup in a shaker with ice.
  2. Shake until well-chilled.
  3. Strain into a chilled coupe glass.
  4. Garnish with a lime wheel on the rim.
Purists make this with Rose's Lime Cordial (not fresh lime + syrup), which is how Royal Navy surgeons first mixed it against scurvy. The fresh-lime version shown here is the modern standard.
