Double Knott Manhattan

Ingredients
- 30ml Maker's Mark bourbon (1 oz)
- 30ml George Dickel Rye (1 oz)
- 15ml Carpano Bianco vermouth (1/2 oz)
- 15ml Punta e Mes (1/2 oz)
- 1 dash Angostura bitters
- 1 dash orange bitters
- A Maker's Mark bourbon barrel stave (for smoking)
- A small handful chopped cinnamon sticks and whole cloves
- Ice, for stirring
Instructions
- Place a small pile of chopped cinnamon sticks and cloves on a Maker's Mark barrel stave.
- Apply a plumber's torch to the pile until it is smoking heavily.
- Invert a snifter glass over the smoke to capture a snifter-full of smoke.
- Meanwhile, combine both whiskeys, both vermouths, and both bitters in a mixing glass with ice.
- Stir until well-chilled.
- Remove the snifter from the smoke, keeping it inverted until ready.
- Right the snifter and immediately pour the chilled cocktail into it through the captured smoke.
