Ingredients
- 45ml bourbon or rye whiskey (1 1/2 oz)
- 30ml Campari (1 oz)
- 30ml sweet red vermouth (1 oz)
- Ice, for stirring
- Garnish: orange twist
Instructions
- Combine bourbon, Campari, and sweet vermouth in a mixing glass with ice.
- Stir vigorously for 20 seconds until well-chilled.
- Strain into a chilled coupe, or over a large ice cube in a double rocks glass.
- Express an orange twist over the drink, rub it around the rim, and drop it in.
The bourbon Negroni. Gwynne's original 1927 recipe was equal parts 1:1:1; the modern 3:2:2 (whiskey-forward) ratio used here is the contemporary standard.
